This is a catalogue of work by Doulton artist Frank A Butler.
Frank A Butler worked at Doultons for nearly 40 years from 1872 to 1911. He was a man of creative genius, whose work was admired by both Queen Victoria and William Gladstone. Butler was profoundly deaf and nearly mute. From his own isolated world he produced a prolific output of varied styles. Geometric shapes, floral designs and even animal shapes decorated his work. Frequently he moulded the wet clay into unusual shapes by pressure from the inside of the vessel.
