An exciting and different 28cm Doulton Lambeth vase by one of the top class designers of the late 19th century - Frank A Butler. At a time when all the other designers were incising their patterns on their vases, Frank Butler decided to cover his with white spots! Dating from the last decade of the 19th century, the design and colourway were novel for a Doulton vase of the period.

The vase has the impressed Doulton Lambeth mark with the word 'England' underneath dating the vase to 1891-1902. It is signed in monogram by Frank A Butler, Ethel Beard, and an unknown assistant 'RHM'. The vase weighs 900g.

The vase is in excellent condition. Apart from a fleabite chip (small flea) approx 2mm dia to the base rim,the vase is in mint/perfect condition, with no other chips, cracks, crazing, restoration or significant scratches. There is a small and unobtrusive area approx 2mm by 4mm to the top rim where not covered by the glaze at the original firing. The fleabite has been restored professionally and invisibly.
