An early (1884) and elegant Doulton Lambeth stoneware vase by one of Doultons leading designers - Florence C Roberts, using all the techniques, pate-sur-pate, incising, and applied decoration. As was so usual for Florence Roberts, the design is floral in nature.
The vase has the impressed Doulton Lambeth mark with the incised monogram of Florence C Roberts. It also has the date of 1884, and the marks of two assistants, one of them Elsie Thomas. The vase weighs 740g.
The vase is in immaculate condition, with no readily discernable defects. Fastidious inspection suggests that there has been restoration to the neck of the vase. This is only visible on the closest inspection.
