This elegant Art Deco Royal Doulton 10in (25cm) jug bridges a gap between the elaborate detail of Victorian times, and the later relative simplicity of the Art Deco period. The thistle motif is a very much simplified representation, but the handle bears the relatively complex detailing of the earlier period, particularly at its base.
The jug has the impressed Royal Doulton mark with crown and lion, dating it to after 1902 and before the departure of Mark Marshall in 1912. It carries an incised monogram of Mark Marshall and his design number 688. The bowl weighs 961gr.
