A superb and characteristic Royal Doulton 8in (20cm) 'thistle' bowl by Mark Marshall in lovely condition, from the beginning of the 20th century. The bowl is not signed by Mark Marshall, but the design and quality match the jug offered with it, and another bowl also catalogued. The bowl weighs 1248g.
The bowl has the impressed Royal Doulton mark with crown and lion, dating it to after 1902 and before the departure of Mark Marshall in 1912. It carries the incised monograms of an unknown ceramic artist 'M.H.' and Eleanor Tosen, and the impressed number 26Y.
