A large Royal Doulton vase in the best of Art Nouveau traditions. Gone are the elaborate Victorian shapes with Gothic detail. The joy of this vase comes from its shape, and the use of colour and washline detail. The colours (purple and green) are typical of the period. Harry Simeon's assistant was one of the finest of those working in the early 20th century - Bessie Newbery.
This Royal Doulton 15in vase is the next thing to an umbrella stand! Apart from the impressed Royal Doulton mark with crown and lion, it has both Harry Simeon's and Bessie Newbery's incised monograms. It also has Harry Simeon's design number - 188. The vase weighs 2998g.
The vase is in mint condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, restoration or significant scratches.
