A mint condition Doulton Lambeth 5in (12.5cm) elaborately decorated mug with silver plated rim. Who was clever enough to guess that it was by George Tinworth? Please read on!

This 5in mug is by Edith L Kemp. It has the Doulton Lambeth rosette, the date 1880, and the monogram of Edith L Kemp. Little is known of Edith Kemp, but this item has her number 713! It also has the monogram of Edith Kemp's assistant, Emma Martin.

The ceramic part of the mug is in mint condition. There is very minor (almost imperceptible) corrosion to the silver plate of the rim, and there is a remote possibility that the rim was retrospectively fitted to conceal rim damage.
