A pretty Doulton Lambeth mustard pot with silver plated lid, signed by one of the rarest of Doulton's designers, Alice M Herepath, and dated 1881.
This Doulton Lambeth mustard pot is a rarity - a signed piece designed by Alice M Herepath. It is also a very early work, as an asistant, by the long-service Jane Hurst. It has the Doulton Lambeth impressed mark with the date 1881.
The Lambeth mustard pot is visually perfect. It has no chips, crazing restoration, or scratching, but on internal inspection, it has a hairline crack: this is invisible from the outside. The silver plating is complete, but the hinge is a little slack.
