This exciting piece of early Doulton Lambeth in excellent condition, by Elizabeth A Sayers shows a lively colour choice that is unusual for the period (1877).
This 8" jug has the monograms of both designer, Elizabeth A Sayers, and her assistant, Mary Aitken. It also has the date, 1877, Elizabeth Sayers' design number, 336, and the impressed Doulton Lambeth mark. It is rare to find such a lively coulourway, and the use of pink as a colour in such an early piece of Doulton Lambeth.
The jug is in excellent condition, without chips, cracks, crazing, restroation or even significant scratches.
