A 6" (15cm) jug by the 'queen' of creative design from the end of the 19th Century, Eliza Simmance, bridging the gap between Victorian extravagance and Art Nouveau's relative simplicity.
The jug dates from the period 1891 to 1902, as it has the impressed Doulton Lambeth mark with the word 'England' included. It is signed with Eliza Simmance's incised monogram and numbered 92. It is also signed in monogram by her assistant, Emily Partington. Note that the background is more of a pale mustard than the photos would indicate.
The jug is in mint condition, with no chips, cracks, crazing, significant scratches, or restoration.
