A 10.5" (26cm) Royal Doulton Art Nouveau vase dating from about 1910 by one of Doulton's finest designers.
This exuberant vase by Francis C Pope has all the hallmarks of the Art Nouveau period. Page 126 of desmond Eyles' 'The Doulton Lambeth Wares' has illustrations of similar flowing designs and shapes. The vase has the impressed Royal Doulton mark with the initials of Francis Pope and his opus number 41. This adventurous, possibly even erotic design, has no series number, indicating that it was not a design made for mass production. It is also signed by his assistant, Louisa Wakeley.
The vase is in mint condition, with no chips, cracks, crazing, restoration, or even significant scratches
