A sparkling pair of Doulton Lambeth 9" (22.5cm) vases with typical mosaic and 'cracked ice' decoration by Eliza Simmance in excellent condition.
An immaculate pair of vases typical of those illustrated on pp 166-170 of Desmond Eyles' "The Doulton Lambeth Wares". The base clay is enhanced with white mosaic, circles of blue dots and a dark brown footing. All of this is then heightened with gold rings and 'cracked ice' patterns.
The vases have the Doulton Lambeth Silicon Mark, without the word 'England', dating the vases to pre-1891. They have the monogram of Eliza Simmance, and her opus number 498.
They are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restorations. The gilding is in excellent condition and shows no signiicant signs of wear.
