An early Doulton Lambeth tobacco jar or biscuit barrel by Elizabeth Atkins decorated with impasto stylised floral patterns.

This pretty 4.5" (12cm) barrel shaped storage jar for tobacco/biscuits/ginger by Elizabeth Atkins is in excellent condition. The jar is decorated in contrasting pale blue and a variety of browns, with white floral centres. It has the impressed Doulton Lambeth mark (without 'England' underneath) dating the barrel to pre-1892. It has the incised monogram of Elizabeth Atkins, her opus number 69, the impessed mongrams of Fanny Sayers and two other unidentifiable artists.

The jar/barrel is in original condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or restoration, but the lid has two flakes, measuring 7mm by 6mm and 2mm by 3mm. They are both on the underside of the lid and cannot be seen when the lid is on the barrel.
