A very smart 7" (17.5cm) Art Nouveau Royal Doulton spill vase with floral motifs by Rosina Brown dating from the very early 20th century.
This vase is somewhat of a mystery. Rosina Brown is recorded as having worked at Doultons until 1905, but the shape of the vase is recorded as being one of those launched in about 1912 as one of the 'New Style vases'. The colours and motifs however are very similar to those on p199 of Desmond Eyles' "The Doulton Lambeth Wares", dating the vase to about 1905. The vase has the impressed Doulton Mark with Crown and Lion, the Series number 6674, and Rosina Brown's incised monogram.
The vase is in perfect condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or restoration. There isn;t even a scratch.
