This pair of Lambeth Siliconware mosaic vases by Eliza Simmance are only 8cm tall and about 7cm diameter. The 'cracked ice' overall design is enhanced by a band of black and white mosaic and gilt decoration.

A wealth of history of the vases is available underneath. Both are signed by Eliza Simmance, and have her personal number 265. Both have the impressed mark of Louisa Wakely. One has the mark of Alice G Hellis and the other has the impressed mark of Elizabeth Dayton. Judging by the dates of Eliza Simmance's assistants, the vases were made somewhere between 1882 and 1891. Other signatures are also visible under the vases. Similarly decorated examples of Doulton Lambeth Siliconware can be seen on pages 166-169 in Desmond Eyles' Doulton lambeth Wares.

The vase are in good, but not perfect condition. One vase has a small chip to the rim measuring approx 10mm by 4mm. The mosaic and gilt decoration is generally in excellent order, the gold leaf looking 'factory fresh'.
