This barrel with applied leaf motifs by Jane Hurst dates from the end of the 19th century.
The biscuit barrel has the Doulton Lambeth mark with 'England' under it. This indicates a date of post-1891 when the 'England' was added and pre-1902 when Doulton became 'Royal Doulton'. The use of applied motifs is typical of the period. The copper lid may not be part of the original manufacture.
The piece is in generally good condition, but there is some damage to the inner rim of the barrel. This is invisible when the lid is on. The price of the biscuit barel reflects the presence of the damage.
