A real rarity! Marqueterie ware was invented in 1886, and Agate ware was derived from marqueterie ware. As the Doulton lambethbackstamp does not have the word 'England' under it, this piece must be an early one dating from the period 1886-1892. A good addition to any comprehensive collection of early Doulton Lambeth.
The 8.5in (21cm) jardinière has the impressed Doulton Lambeth mark. It also has the hand written word 'Doulton' and the number X3192 underneath. The jardiniere weighs 1271g.
No restoration or damage is visible, but the interior colour varies around the circumference.
