An early work (pre 1892) by one of the very finest of Doultons designers, but one that already shows the influence of the Art nouveau period. The 10.25in (21cm) vase has the impressed Doulton Lambeth mark without the word ‘ENGLAND’, dating it to the period up to 1892. It is signed in monogram by Eliza Simmance and numbered 46 by her. It is also signed by her assistant Rosina Brown. The vase weighs 768g.
The vase is in exceptional condition, with no chips, cracks or crazing. There is a small amount of ‘glaze run’ at the base of the blue glaze around the neck of the vase. This does not detract from the overall appearance of the vase.
