Stylistically, in the timescale of Doulton stoneware, these candlesticks are very early. They are elaborate in the detailing, and restrained in their colour. The Art Nouveau movement had not yet arrived at the work table of Emily Edwards.
The 7.25in (18cm) candlesticks are both signed in monogram by Emily Edwards. Both have impressed Doulton Lambeth marks, one of which has the included date of 1874. They are numbered 8, and 13.
The candlesticks weigh 1091g.
There is restoration to the top rim of one candlestick and small chips to the base of both.
