This cruet, once re-plated, looks a million dollars. For someone capable of such imaginative exuberance, this little gem looks restrained. Muted colours and a restrained design of stand complete the cruet's air of class. A 3 piece cruet on a silver plated stand and with silver plated tops. It measures 4.75in (11.5cm) tall and 7in (17.5cm) from end to end of the stand. The cruet has the impressed Doulton Lambeth mark with the date 1882. Each piece is signed in monogram (at least once!) by Eliza Simmance, and a variety of assistants. The cruet weighs 470g.
There's a minute fleabite to the top rim of the ‘salt’ has been professionally and invisibly repaired. All the silver plate of the stand and the tops has been re-plated. The base plate of the cruet stand has some small marks where the salt has eroded the metal. These have been covered by the re-plating of the stand, but are still visible.
