Alice Budden may not be one of the most famous designers ever to work for Doultons...
The 5.5in (13.5cm) mug has the impressed Doulton Lambeth mark. It is signed in monogram and numbered 200 by Alice Budden, and is also signed by her assistant Rosina Brown. The rim is hallmarked for London 1888, with the silversmith (JNM) being John Newton Mappin, of Mappin and Webb fame. The mug weighs 484g.
There is a very small indentation in the silver rim (approx. 2mm x 1mm) just visible in photo No5. (To view photo No5, click on the “ZOOM IMAGES” button). Apart from the small indent in the rim, the mug is totally original.
