One of a near pair of ewers, that differ only in their decoration. Normally these horses would be more worth more than its fellow 'sheep' ewer, but the value of the horses reflects the fact that the ewer has had restoration - albeit to a state of perfection. The 11.5in (28.5cm) ewer has the Doulton Lambeth impressed mark with the date 1876. It is signed in monogram and numbered 235 by Hannah Barlow. It is also signed by Emily Stormer and Rosina Brown, Hannah Barlow’s assistants. The ewer weighs 883g.
A flake from the base rim had been glued back in position and poorly restored. This has been professionally and invisibly restored.
