This ribbed design was well in advance of the similar works by such eminent ceramicists such a Bernard Leech, and represents a great leap forward for British designers. Signed in full by Vera Huggins, and not numbered, it would appear to be a significant work by the lady who was probably the leading Doulton designers of the 1930/40s. The 7in (17cm) vase has the impressed Royal Doulton mark with lion. The vase is signed in full by Vera Huggins only, suggesting that it “all my own work”! The vase weighs 1254g.
