Cruets are always popular! Cruets by Eliza Simmance are always very popular, but 4-piece cruets by the great lady that sparkle like new are very very rare!
A superb matched 4-piece cruet consisting of open salt, pepperette, mustard pot (with spoon) and vinegar(?). The set measures 4.75in (12cm) diameter and 6.25in (16cm) tall. Each item is signed in monogram by Eliza Simmance, and dated 1875. Two items are also signed by her assistant, Rosina Brown. The cruet weighs 555g.
All items are generally in excellent condition. Except for the open salt all silver components hve been re-plated. Two small base rim chips have been professionally and invisibly restored. There is also mild distortion to the cruet holder, the top of the pepperette ‘wobbles’, and there is a ‘fleabite’ chip to the open salt underneath,
