The actual designer of these vases is not known, but the date of the design is, as the design was announced in about 1912 as “DOULTON WARE NEW STYLE VASES”. The strong Art Deco content of this design was very innovative for the period.
A pair of 7.5in (18.25cm) vases, both carrying the Doulton Lambeth impressed mark, one signed ‘JH’ by Jane Hurst one signed, and one signed ‘LB’. Both have the series number 7948 impressed underneath. The vases weigh a total of 1269g.
As one would expect with a pair of hand-made items, there is a very slight difference in colour tone, and a slight variation in the thickness of the glaze.
