This vase has two possible designers. It is signed by Mary Ann Thomson, who was very frequently the assistant to George Tinworth on his ‘sea-weed’ vases. Looking at it, it appears 100% to be a Tinworth. It is either Mary Ann Thomson making a Tinworth, or possibly, the unsigned half of a pair of Tinworths!
The 6.5in (16cm) vase has the impressed Doulton Lambeth mark with the included date of 1776. It is signed in monogram by Mary Ann Thomson. The vase weighs 665g.
The vase had a ‘flea-bite’ chip to the top rim. This has been professionally and invisibly restored.
