If you look at the group photo on the Home Page of this website, which vases stand out? With their sand-coloured background, strong detail, and 30.5cm (12.25in) height, these two Doulton Lambeth Silicon Ware vases are very eye-catching.
The 30.5cm (12.25in) vases have the Doulton Lambeth silicon mark, dating them to pre-1892. They are signed in monogram by Eliza Simmance, and numbered 520. They have an assistant’s initials ‘MH’, or ‘HW’ if read the other way up! The vases weigh a total of 3255g.
The vases are in excellent condition. A handful of tessera have minor damage, but they make no effect on the very strong visual impact of the vases – we have decided to leave the vases on their totally original condition. There is a minute blister (3mm dia) on one side of one vase – photo available on request.
