This 25cm (10in) Doulton Lambeth bowl is certainly decorated by Harriet Hibbut, and possibly designed by Francis C Pope. The inside of the bowl has seen better days, but the price reflects that! It’s a lovely bowl, and with a plant in it, or filled with fruit – brilliant!
The bowl has the impressed ‘Doulton Lambeth’ mark with the date 1886(?). The bowl is signed in monogram by Harriet Hibbut. It also has a designer’s monogram ‘P’ and his/her number, 393. The designer was very possibly Francis Pope in his early days at Doultons. The bowl weighs 1726g.
Externally, the bowl is in mint condition. Internally, it has a number of small defects and scratches, and is a mess – see photos! With a plant or fruit in it, it is a very beautiful bowl. If you don’t like the description of the inside, than just look at the price – it is a very attractive bowl!
