A delightful and different piece of early Doulton Lambeth, produced with infinite care. Both the incised and the applied detail are done meticulously, and are in mint condition.
The lidded pot is 12.5cm (5in) in diameter and has the impressed Doulton Lambeth mark with the date 1877. It is signed in monogram by Elizabeth Sayers with her number 716. The lidded pot weighs 527g.
The stoneware of the lidded pot is in mint condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or restoration, but the EPNS rim, cover and handle show areas of wear and light pitting.
