A mint condition pair of Royal Doulton Art Deco vases, by one of the finest ceramic artists at Doulton - Bessie Newbery. As Bessie Newbery finished at Doultons in 1923 after over 40 years service, these vases demonstrate the early adaptation of doultons to the angularity of the Art Deco period. In her later years at Doultons, Bessie Newbery produced some of her own designs - these could well be in that category.
The vases have the Royal Doulton impressed mark with crown and lion, the design number 7410 and Bessie Newbery's incised monogram. The vases weigh 1056g.
The vases are in totally mint condition. One vase (see photo No4) has some spots underneath where the base of the vase has adhered to the kiln floor, and the other has one small 'pinprick' in the glaze. Both these marks date from the manufacture of the vases.
