A superb Eliza Simmance Doulton Lambeth jug that is lively and different. This eyecatching jug has all the techniques in use at Doultons at the time. Incised designs, pate-sur-pate, beading, applied motifs, and what Doultons called 'gilt circle work' - except that this time it is in metallic copper.
The jug has the Doulton Lambeth mark with the date of 1885. It has the incised monogram of Eliza Simmance and her design number 54, and the monograms of assistants, Susanna Sanderson and Alice Hellis. The jug weighs 1229g.
The jug is in mint condition without chips, cracks, crazing, restoration or significant scratches.
