This pair of superb Doulton Lambeth Faience vases are reminiscent of the work of illustrators such as Kate Greenaway and Arthur Rackham. The stylised leaf and berry motifs are outlined in a dark green, against an ivory background, to give maximum impact to the design. A true pair, they are left and right handed. They can be dated accurately to 1901-2, as Agnes Baigent started at Doultons in 1901 and they are marked 'Doulton Lambeth' and not 'Royal Doulton'. The visual impact of this pair is very striking.
The vases are signed in monogram by Agnes Baigent and numbered 63. They have both the 'Doulton Lambeth' and 'Faience' marks underneath, and the series number L3290. The pair weighs 1720g.
The vases are in superb condition without cracks, chips, restoration or significant scratches. For the most fastidious, a few very minor underglaze discolourations can be seen. The surface has very fine crazing in places, which can only be seen in direct strong light.
