A rare opportunity to acquire a top quality example of the Doulton Lambeth that Desmond Eyles in his "The Doulton Lambeth Wares" describes as “probably the rarest” form. This is delicate piece in exceptional condition.
The dish measures 14.5cm (5.75in) from corner to corner, and is nearly 3.5cm tall. It has the Doulton and Rix printed stamp carrying the date of 12th July 1887. It is signed 'ES' and numbered 245.
The dish is in excellent condition. It has no cracks, chips, restoration or significant scratches. In the strongest of sunlight, it is possible to detect very fine crazing to the glaze. This is very difficult to find as the nature of the design conceals it.
