This lovely beaded 11.5in (29cm) vase by one of Doulton's foremost designers illustrates the transition from Victorian design to Art Nouveau. Datting from the first decade of the 20th century, it is elaborate in detail, with deep incised grooves, but still uses the familiar colour combination of much of the early Doulton Lambeth.
The vase has the incised signature in monogram of Francis C Pope, and his number 537. Impressed marks include the Royal Doulton mark with crown and lion, and the coded date stamp 'h' for 1907. The vase weighs 1460g.
The vase is in perfect condition with no chips, cracks, crazing restoration or significant scratches.
