An unusual piece. A stoneware vase by an artist, Kate Rogers, known for her Faience ware. The design on the vase is characteristic of faience, with a naturalistic portrayal of flowers (pate-sur-pate) and high gloss glaze, also more usually associated with faience.
The vase has the Doulton Lambeth impressed mark with the date 1881 impressed within it. It also has the incised monogram of Kate Rogers, and her design number 79. The vase weighs 1136g.
The vase is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or significant scratches. There is minor crazing to the white pigment of the flowers, and a small unglazed area on the footrim where some other object has touched the vase before firing.
