A meticulously decorated Doulton Lambeth stoneware jug by one of the finest designers of her time, Frances E Lee, with the assistance of one of the finest decorators of her time, Mary Aitken. Mary Aitken's monogram is often seen on the underside of works by George Tinworth.
The jug has the Doulton Lambeth rosette mark with the date 1877. It also has incised monograms of Frances E Lee and Mary Aitken, and Frances Lee's design number 663. The jug weighs 1450g.
The jug is in excellent condition with the proviso that there was a small chip one one side of the spout. The photos were taken before any restoration. The chip has now been professionally and invisibly restored.
